Hey gang,

I've got an idea what topics I think would help us as teachers heighten our effectiveness in the classroom as well as empower us as professional educators.

I'd really like to hear from you as to what you think should be covered by my online training.

Leave me a post and let me know what topics and areas of difficulty I should focus on as I help teachers with their classroom management as well as other teaching profession related issues.

Thanks in advance for your input!

I guess I really would like ways I can motivate my students to want to work in my class.  I don't have too much trouble with discipline, but it seems like each year more students dread coming into my class.  I'd love to learn how I can change this.

Is there a quick and easy way to get students to be quiet?  I hate yelling and would love to learn how I can get my classes quiet and working in a short period of time.

Thanks!

These are great ideas.  In fact, I had planned an entire course on motivation, especially motivating the disaffected student.  Getting students to be quiet is really a part of getting students to follow directions.  This will be covered in the Foundations of Classroom Management online course, due to be released next week.

Thanks for the suggestions.  Keep 'em coming!

I've got a lot of students who just don't come to class.  When I call their parents they tell me that they sent them to school but they just didn't show up.  Any ideas on how to simply get students to show up?

This is a tough one.  Sometimes the culture of a community negatively affects individual student's performance.  How do you overcome this?  I'm not sure.  Definitely forming those real connections with your students will help.  Heaping loads of praise when they experience any success is good.

Any other ideas?
